AwardMax
by author on Mar.17, 2011, under news
What does AwardMax do?
AwardMax provides a full-service solution for optimally earning, managing and using points that are provided directly to the company. In addition to frequent traveler miles and points offered to individual travelers, many loyalty programs (e.g., airlines, hotels, credit card companies, etc.) also offer points directly to the company. This means that both the company and the individual traveler can obtain frequent traveler points. Our focus is entirely on the company points, not the individual frequent traveler miles and points earned by the company’s travelers. We market this service through travel agencies.
By acting as an extension of the company’s travel agency (or in-house agency), AwardMax is able to connect to the company’s travel booking center. This connection allows us to process company travel bookings in order to optimize the earning and management of these company-generated points – and to act as the redemption center for the use of these points. Company points generated outside of the booking process (such as points earned through air cargo or credit cards, etc.) are also managed and used by AwardMax on behalf of the company. We provide company point program solutions that are seamless for the travel agency, the company and the travelers. In addition to seamless solutions, we have the expertise to make critical decisions, such as the type of points to be earned, the optimal inventory levels to be maintained and how the points should be used to provide maximum company benefit.
We act as an extension of the travel agency—acting only as a company point program specialist, not as a travel agency. As such, we are able to use our specialized company point program focus and expertise to provide savings beyond those offered by travel agencies, travel consultants or any other entity that may choose to offer such a service.
Our service includes:
* An initial evaluation of company travel data to determine specific savings opportunities and projected savings for each of these opportunities.
* The establishment and implementation of all processes and procedures necessary to put our services into operation.
* Our proprietary technology to connect to and process each travel reservation—from initial booking through travel completion.
* Researching, obtaining, applying and managing savings opportunities.
* Customized reports detailing all pertinent program details.
* Periodic Executive Summaries to review the success of the program and to present any new savings opportunities.
How is AwardMax paid?
The AwardMax fee is entirely performance based. Our fee structure is 25-30% of the savings we achieve for the company—a company pays nothing unless we save that company money.
What’s special about the AwardMax technology and expertise?
Along with our sister companies, we have over 20 years of experience in delivering loyalty program solutions for companies, government agencies, travel agencies, travel consultants, travel providers and individual travelers. We have developed sophisticated software and service methodologies that are comprehensive and adaptable to the ever-changing loyalty programs and customized to the needs of all of its users.
Our technology is designed to be adaptable and handle any complexity that the loyalty programs can create, as well as skillfully handling the internal business rules, policies and preferences of its users. We pride ourselves on providing highly customizable solutions that suit our users’ needs perfectly.
Our staff is well versed in the complexity and dynamic nature of loyalty programs. Due to our longevity in the business, we understand the loyalty programs inside and out and can apply our expertise and experience in designing our services for each of our users.
How does AwardMax help solve your problems?
We help travel agencies in enhancing and extending their role as travel professionals by providing them with service solutions that they can offer to their corporate clients for the purpose of reducing business travel costs.
Companies usually think that their travel agency knows everything when it comes to travel—including loyalty programs. Even though these loyalty programs offer awards that can be redeemed for travel, travel agents are seldom loyalty program experts, leaving them ill-equipped to provide robust loyalty program services.
The level of difficulty and dynamic nature associated with loyalty programs requires loyalty program specialists. AwardMax allows travel agencies to offer specialized loyalty program services directly to their corporate clients, which in turn enhances and extends their role as the travel professional. What One Needs To Know About Passport Validity For Schengen Visa
by author on Jan.25, 2011, under news
It is crucial for a Schengen visa applicant to collect all visa supporting documents according to the requirements of the consulate where the Schengen visa application is to be processed
The rule which is followed by any Schengen consulate is that your UK residence permit and passport should not expire any time soon.
Normally the applicants’ passport and visa for the UK must be valid for a minimum of three months and one day after they are planning to come back to the UK.
Depending on the expiration date of your passport and UK visa you can get a shorter or longer Schengen visa.
For example, if your passport expires in five years time but your UK visa is valid only for 5 months, you will not be granted a Schengen visa with the validity longer than 2 months. And vice versa: if your UK residence permit is valid for two years, but your passport is expiring in two or three months, your Schengen visa application will be turned down. And if your passport expires within four to six months, your Schengen visa will have a very short validity – it may be multiple entry, but the number of days you are allowed to travel will be put according to the tickets and hotel booking you are applying with.
For instance, you can be granted a multiple entry French Schengen visa which is valid for 15 days, but out of these 15 days you are allowed to spend in Europe only 3 days. Read your Schengen visa label attentively.
So if you are planning to get a Schengen visa valid for 6 months or longer, make sure that your documents will allow you this. Otherwise you may need to either renew your UK visa or get a new passport. With majority of countries passports can be renewed at least a few months before the expiry date; with Russian passports, for example, you can apply for a new one 6 months before it expires. The best advice would be to double check with your consulate when you can apply for a new passport or renew the old one. A few countries allow their citizens to hold two valid travel documents at the same time. Some consulates can renew your expiring passport by putting a stamp inside it which says that the document is valid for another two to three years.

Park City – Things To Do In All Seasons
by author on Jan.11, 2011, under news
Utah is best known for its world class skiing along with the greatest snow on earth, but you will find a lot of Park City things to do no matter what season you pay a visit to. Whether you’re taking a day trip from Salt Lake City or on your way to Yellowstone or making our town your base for a vacation stay, you will uncover a lot to do at any time of the year.
Winter:
Sure there’s some of the best skiing in the world here, but winter enjoyment doesn’t end at the foot of the mountains. Try tubing under the stars or a snowmobile tour. Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride to a yurt for dinner. Be here in January when the town goes Hollywood for the world renowned Sundance Film Festival.
Spring:
Skiing doesn’t cease in the spring. Utah provides some fantastic spring skiing into April. Bring your sunscreen and shades! Ski in the morning and then play a round of golf in the afternoon. Take a hot air balloon ride and see the mountains in a complete diverse way. A horseback ride or a hike provides you a closer view of the stunning alpine wildflowers coming in to bloom.
Summer:
Park City overflows with activity in the summer time. You’ll find often summer concerts going on. Some are absolutely free at a couple of resorts and there is the summer time concert series at Deer Valley with the Utah Symphony. Take a picnic and enjoy the classics under the stars. For the much more adventurous try a ride on a zip line or an alpine slide. Boating and fishing are nearby on 2 reservoirs and of course blue-ribbon fly fishing on the Provo river.
Fall:
Fall brings cooler weather and color to the mountains perfect for hiking or biking on the some 400 miles of trail accessible. A drive along the scenic alpine loop will offer you views of our fall foliage stretching for miles over the mountains. For something different try a day on horseback followed by a chuckwagon dinner cooked over the fire.
There are several activities offered year round at the same time. Historic Main Street is packed with galleries offering an eclectic variety of art. The exclusive shops lining the street give a memorable shopping encounter at the same time. Then there is the Olympic Park to see and the mine tour to take and dining in Park City provides you fine dining to family pizza.
So, no matter what time of year you choose to visit, you’ll come across plenty of Park City things to do during your stay.

Costa Brava Airport Traffic Increases
by author on Nov.28, 2010, under news
In the year 1997, just over half a million passengers passed through the Costa Brava airport of Girona. Due to lack of winter traffic the airport would typically close between the months of November and march, which made things awkward for Costa Brava residents, as they would have to resort to using Barcelona or Perpignan airports if they wished to travel to see family during the winter months and Christmas period.
The number of passengers passing through the Costa Brava airport was fairly consistent, and hovered around the half a million mark until 2003, when the number of passengers increased dramatically by almost 300 percent. The reason for this dramatic increase was thanks to cheap Irish Airline Ryanair; the company chose Girona Airport and the Costa Brava as their main gateway into Spain.
The following year, in 2004, passenger numbers passing through the airport doubled. Almost three million passengers used the Costa Brava airport in that year, and the limited facilities supplied by the airport were stretched.
In 2007, nearly five million passengers passed through the airport, and finally expansion plans were underway. It was many months before work began, and even more months before it was completed.
Renovations included doubling the amount of check-in desks and expanding the check-in area accordingly. Thankfully this led to a reduction of queue length, with more space for luggage.
Parking at Girona airport had always been a huge problem, the car park was only large enough for around 300 cars, and many people were forced to use a private parking a five minute walk away, which involved crossing a busy road and also having to pass through a muddy field.
The expansion plans included the building of a large multi-storey indoor car park, and several other parking areas for the vehicles belonging to airport workers.
An additional bar area was added downstairs by the arrival section, and extra services were provided such as a service for passengers with restricted mobility.
More shops were installed in the boarding area, and existing facilities were given a face-lift.
However, has all this work been in vain?
As far back as in 2008, the Daily Telegraph reported that Ryanair had threatened to pull out of several Spanish airports after baggage handlers cause disruption and chaos after going on strike.
Many British holidaymakers on route to Spain had been forced to abandon their luggage at Stansted Airport because of the strike action. Many travelers returning to the UK had to abandon their suitcases at Spanish airports and just carry what they could on board.
More recently, Girona have lost many of the business Ryanair bought as the company have began using Barcelona airport, and moved many of the flights that previously landed at Girona to Barcelona.
Not only is this a blow for Girona airport authorities, but also for the many Costa Brava residents that enjoyed the ease of being able to use the Costa Brava airport rather than traveling the long distance to Barcelona.

A Guide To Rome Leonardo Da Vinci Fuimicino Airport
by author on Nov.24, 2010, under news
When most people travel, transportation is a primary concern. How do you get from the airport to your hotel? How do you see all the sights that the destination has to offer? What if you are traveling in a large group? What about public transportation? If you are traveling to or through Italy, there are several options for transportation.
Many international flights arrive in Rome, so in planning your transportation needs you need to start from there. When you arrive at the airport, you can rent a car from one of the several car rental companies. In addition to local companies, there are the international names such as Hertz and Enterprise, so you should be able to reserve your vehicle online in advance and have it waiting for you at the airport.
There are 2 airports in Rome – Fiumicino and Ciampino airport. Buses and shuttles depart from the airport arrival area about every hour and can take you to the Termini Station which is the central train station. From there you should be able to connect to all other parts of Italy. Public transportation, although it requires some advance planning, is always the cheapest option for your Italy vacation. You may also want to learn some Italian words in case you get lost and need directions or need some help.
Da Vinci International Airport (now known as Rome Leonardo Da Vinci Fuimicino Airport) is the second largest gateway in Europe that services a total of 30+ million people annually. The airport opened in 1961 with only two runways replacing the Ciampino airport that was designated for domestic and charter flight
operations.
Getting To & From Rome Airport
Alitalia Airlines
that operates Rome flights invested heavily into the installation of a third runway to handle the increased airline
traffic at the airport. Da Vinci airport is approximately 21 miles from the city of Rome by car and as of October 2006 any patron who uses a taxi to and from the airport pay a fixed rate of 40 euros. That rate is pretty high because Italian cabs usually charge a fixed rate depending on the area serviced and it?s most often half that amount for a single trip.
Travelers have the option, if they want to save money on cabs and use the Airport Shuttles Rome service and pay a fixed rate of 35 euros Up To 4 Pasengers,
or to use the train system and taking a 30-minute ride to Rome and disembark in downtown Rome at Termini Station (cost 14 euros per pasenger).
Da Vinci Airport has had only five documented incidents in December 1973, December 1985, April 1986, October 1988, and September 2005 out the airport?s entire 47 and a half years in operation.
Da Vinci airport has four terminals. There are over 122 air carriers that service Da Vinci International Airport with possibly two new airlines being added to the roster of current carriers bringing that number to 124. Da Vinci Airport has more air carriers than Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles the 3 busiest airports in the United States combined. Shopping at Da Vinci airport offers travelers a choice of more than 140 shops throughout the airport that offer many kinds of designer clothing, jewelry, and perfumes.
Most offer vast discounts for things that would be expensive to purchase back in the UK & USA. This is why many Americans who travel through Da Vinci Airport request that things they purchase through the duty free stores to ship them to their house so they can bypass the security check due to restrictions on the quantity of specific items like liquor and perfume because of the current regulations of people flying with liquids in their luggage which was applied to aviation policy after 9/11.

The Worlds Best Scuba Adventure: The Red Sea
by author on Nov.20, 2010, under news
Red Sea Diving Holidays are a diving fanatics dream! The array of aquatic wildlife is absolutely brilliant with over 20% of the fish species are specific to the red sea. the most admired diving experience is to catch a glimpse of the uncommon sail fish, the sail fish spans over 1 meter long and is the fastest fish species known to man as it can hit impressive speeds of up to 68 Mph making the sailfish extremely agile and perfectly adapted to catching its nippy prey. the Protected reefs around Egypt are Heaving with millions of fish of all species and varieties aswell as other exotic underwater wildlife . The most popular dive areas around Sharm are the “striates of Tiran” which offer you the chance to dive a fish infested ship wreck, the “Ras Mohammed and Yolanda reef”the most southerly dive spot in the red sea, expect to encounter many schools of barracuda, Grouper , and king fish. if you fancy doing something abit more exciting why not try Shark Diving Undego a shark dive experience with many sharks species such as the hammer head and the black tip.
The waters of the red see get a little colder in the winter months and average at about 22 degrees, a 7 millimetre wet or semi dry suit should be perfect for a dive around that time. Be warned that doing 3 or 4 dives a day in a 3mm or a 4.5 mm dry suit you may start leaving you a little chilly.
there are many great Scuba Diving Holidays available around the red sea from Sinai to Aqaba and Jordan picking some one of the best resorts which specialises in scuba diving can be quick tricky.
I have heard good reviews about the Savoy Hotel in Sharm el Sheik a luxurious resorts which specialises in water sports adventures e.g Snorkelling and Scuba diving trips.
